Sony Xperia Z2 on Vodafone – Cracked Screens after charging…

Sony Xperia Z2 Cracked Screen After Charging – Vodafone

Hi Guys,

I have been a long time Samsung Galaxy S* user, I really like the galaxy range but decided for a change. After looking around I decided upon the Sony Xperia Z2 phone, it looked nice, ran great and had a decent screen. We ordered this phone through Vodafone Business. For the first few months things were fine, however one night I had the phone on charge and when it came to the morning I awoke to a cracked screen, I took the phone into Vodafone and they didn’t want to know at all, even though we were a business user, they said it had been dropped and said the only thing we could do was send it to Sony and see what they said. After a lot of emails and phone calls nothing got resolved, Sony said they would fix it but would require payment as they too said it had been dropped. I looked on the web and I am NOT the only one with this issue, Z2, Z3s all suffering from cracked screens with not much help from providers or Sony. I am sorry to say Sony will never sell me a phone again, their customer service is appalling as was Vodafone’s over this matter. I am now a Galaxy S6 user and am very happy.

Are other people having issues with Sony Z phones and cracked screens?

Shibby Tomato 1.28 Firmware – Asus RT-AC68U – PPTP VPN

Shibby Tomato 1.28 Firmware – Asus RT-AC68U – PPTP VPN

Hi Guys,

We have just installed a Asus RT-AC68U Router and have to say were very impressed. One area that could have been a little more in-depth was the firmware but, being open sorce firmware capable we decided to use Shibby Tomato 1.28. If you have tried getting a PPTP VPN tunnel initiated you will be like us and many others having issues, after trawling the web we found it:

Add this scipt below to the Administration/Scripts/Firewall section:

#!/bin/sh
iptables -A INPUT -p gre -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp –dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -A FORWARD -o ppp+ -j ACCEPT

iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp  014dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p tcp  014dport 1723 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i ppp+ -j ACCEPT

Then as is plastered all over the web just click save and thats it however thats not just it, you then need to go to the Advanced/Firewall section, and just click SAVE to restart the firewall services. Now all will be working… 🙂

It took quite a while to work this out and hop this will save others time, hopefully Shibby will implement this into the firmware so you dont have to manually do this, if you enable the VPN Server it should just work

**** UPDATE **** – 8-8-14 (02.33am)

We have just discovered that using this method that is widely talked about throughout the web opens up some security issues. As soon as we learn how to patch it we will post the solution here, in the meantime please do not use the code above.

Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus & Samsung Galaxy S4 – USB Mass Storage

Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus & Samsung Galaxy S4 – USB Mass Storage

Just a little heads up for you, although the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus’s can read from mobile phones now, ie. iPhone & Android + others, I have run into a problem on Android with the Jelly Bean update. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Kit Kat 4.4.2  and have noticed that the CDJ 2000 Nexus will no longer read from it directly. Upon further investigation I found out that Google have stripped out the support for mass storage device which was what the CDJs used to communicate over USB. I feel as though this is a massive downsight on Androids side and hope Google will see the need to re-inplement it, not only for DJs but for other users that require a fast and widely adopted method of transfering files over USB.

Have any of you had this problem or what are your thoughts?
